So I got an e-mail from my salesguy concerning the tankless water heaters. He said that he could do "the water heater for $2200."
He didn't say "water heaters."
I replied to confirm and still haven't heard anything.
I'm hoping that since I told him I wanted two that he asked for two from the contractor. And everything that would involve. Until I get final word, I'm going to play a little game wherein I convince myself that that is in fact the price for two. Here we go.
The cost of one water heater is $1000. That's if you go to Home Depot and buy it. So obviously it's going to be like, 20% more because of that. So now we have two heaters, $1600 total. Assuming I'm going to get some kind of credit for the 50-gallon tank they were going to put in ... say, $300 (it's worth more retail, but again, we gotta go with contractor discount here.) So that's down to $1300. They need to run extra plumbing. Oh my, isn't pipe so very expensive. I would have thought that most of the work would be the same, save for another two-three hours of plumbing to the other unit. And of course, since it's a "change" they're going to make a little money off of me. Fine. So you see, there's this nearly $600 cushion. I think if he turns around and says it's for one, I'm going to freak.
Also, I finished The Da Vinci Code last night. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about two years ago or whatever. I'll write up more of a review maybe tomorrow, but suffice to say that it's a poorly written paperweight. It's nearly 450 pages that could have been easily squeezed into about 150. After a while I was picturing myself as its editor and how I would cross out entire useless paragraphs. Also, there are like, 100+ chapters, too. That's just crappy organization. That adds a lot to the page count. The actual story was somewhat interesting. But again, the author really bogged it down with useless facts. He spoon fed a lot to the audience which was rather insulting, although given the book's popularity I think it says a lot about America. I think that's enough of a review, actually. Don't read it.
