Ok, since we don't actually celebrate Christmas, we're going to do so indirectly. Or something. Anyway, here's the win-win situation being a homeowner: Maria wants a custom made bookshelf for Asim's room. Thus, I will buy tools to make it. I'll also add some sliding drawers to the cabinets in the kitchen. I get an excuse to mess around with wood, and we all benefit from life being easier.
It snowed here a bunch last night. I was annoyed at first at how much I have to pay for snow removal and lawn cutting for the house, but then after I took a shower this morning, I peeked out the window and noticed the driveway was already cleared! Hooray! One less thing to do. Just a few inches, but still. I hope it snows a lot more to make it even more worthwhile.

No, man, it's cool
We're still here, rocking away. I am still debating what new compact digital camera to buy. We are still freezing in the below-freezingness of the Great Nebraska. Of course, having your driveway shoveled for you (by not-your-wife) is a pretty cool thing. Maybe not worth what I have to pay for it, but whatever.
Asim is going to be looked after two days in a row in the evening this coming weekend as Maria and I have some social engagements. The first is about an hour and a half, the second almost 3-4 hours. Not sure how he'll fare on his own with sort-of-not-really strangers, but I'm guessing not well.
Very cool how excited the kid is to see me when I get home every day.
Not cool how I had a work thing last night that lasted until about 7:30. By the time I got home, kid was asleep. Suck.
Maria and I are mentally connecting regarding things around the house. It's a little creepy. Like, I'll get home, and she'll mention a "project" or idea or something that we should do. And it's frequently something that I've spent a good bit of the day researching online ...
I forgot how much I enjoy driving in the snow.
But. In another sign of me Getting Older and Wiser and Not Needing to Impress Anybody, I've got the sense to take the all-wheel drive wagon to work in the ice and snow versus the rear-wheel drive BMW. This also prevents Maria from going out -- ha!
Sounds like I might be able to refinance my loan soon ... after only two months! So maybe that big new high-def tv is in our future after all.
